E-commerce Profit Calculators for Online Sellers

A product can sell well and still lose money once commission, payment fees, shipping, tax and ads are taken out. These calculators show what each sale actually leaves you, before you list a product or scale your ad spend.

There is one for each major route to market for our readers: Daraz in Pakistan, Amazon FBA in the US, UK and UAE, and your own Shopify store.

Choosing the right calculator for your channel

Selling on Daraz? The Daraz Seller Profit & Commission Calculator takes your selling price and costs, deducts commission, fees and the 1โ€“2% withholding tax, and gives your payout, profit, margin and the break-even price below which you lose money. Use it when you set prices for a sale campaign, because a discount that looks small can wipe out most of your margin.

For Amazon, the Amazon FBA Profit Calculator applies the official referral fee for your category on Amazon US, UK or UAE, adds FBA fulfilment and your landed cost, and returns net profit, ROI and break-even ACoS, the highest ad cost of sale you can run before a product stops being profitable.

If you run your own store, the Shopify Profit Calculator works per order and per month, including your Shopify plan, payment processing fees, apps and ad spend, and gives a break-even ROAS to hand to whoever manages your ads.

If you sell on more than one channel, run the same product through each calculator. The same item often earns very different margins on a marketplace and on your own store, and that comparison should guide where you put your stock and your ad budget.

Five costs sellers forget

Returns and cancellations: on marketplaces you often lose shipping and sometimes the product. Build a return allowance into your cost. Packaging: boxes, bags and labels add up at volume. Ads: marketplace ads and social ads are a cost per sale, not a separate budget; divide monthly ad spend by orders to see it. Withholding and sales taxes: these come out of payouts before you see the money. Currency: if you import stock or sell abroad, exchange rate moves change your margin.

Once you know your margin, the ROAS Calculator in our marketing hub and the Break-Even Calculator in the freelancer and business hub help you decide how much you can spend to win a sale and how many units you need to cover fixed costs.

Revisit the numbers whenever something changes: a marketplace updates its fees, a supplier raises prices, or you move to a new courier. A product that was profitable last quarter can quietly slip below break-even without any change in sales.

Frequently asked questions

How much commission does Daraz take?

Commission varies by category, and fees and withholding tax are deducted on top. Enter your category rate in the Daraz Seller Profit & Commission Calculator to see your actual payout and profit per sale.

What is break-even ACoS on Amazon?

It is your profit margin before ad spend, expressed as a percentage of the selling price. If your ACoS is above it, each ad-driven sale loses money. The Amazon FBA Profit Calculator works it out from your fees and costs.

Does the Amazon FBA calculator work for Amazon UAE?

Yes. It covers Amazon US, UK and UAE, using each marketplace's referral fees by category.

How do I calculate Shopify profit per order?

Subtract product cost, shipping, payment processing fees, and a share of your Shopify plan, apps and ad spend from the order value. The Shopify Profit Calculator does this per order and per month.

What margin should an online store aim for?

There is no single right number, but it must leave enough to pay for ads, returns and overheads. Calculate your break-even ROAS: if your ads cannot beat it, the margin is too thin for paid traffic.
