Electricity & Solar Calculators for Pakistan

Electricity bills in Pakistan depend on more than units used. Your slab, your protected status, fixed charges, fuel adjustments and taxes all change the final amount, and one heavy month can raise your rates for half a year.

These calculators estimate a bill for any DISCO or K-Electric from your units, size a rooftop solar system for your home and city, and show how long it would take to pay for itself under the 2026 net billing rules.

How slab billing and protected status work

Domestic tariffs are set in slabs by units used in the month. If every one of your last six months, and the current month, stayed at 200 units or less, you are a protected consumer and pay lower rates, with the benefit of one previous slab. If any of those months went above 200 units, you are billed as unprotected, where every unit is charged at the rate of the slab your monthly total falls in.

That is why a single summer month at 210 units can cost much more than 10 extra units suggest: it can move you to unprotected rates for the next six months. The Electricity Bill Calculator can check your status automatically from your last six months' readings and then adds fixed charges, fuel charge adjustment (FCA), electricity duty and GST to estimate the full bill.

Practical tip: if you are near 200 units, check your meter in the last week of the billing cycle. Shifting heavy loads such as an iron, a water pump or an extra AC hour can be enough to stay protected.

When does going solar pay off?

Size the system first. The Solar System Size Calculator works from your monthly units and real sun data for your city to suggest system size in kW, number of panels, inverter size and battery capacity if you want backup.

Then test the economics with the Solar Payback & Net Metering Calculator. In February 2026 NEPRA replaced net metering with net billing: units you import are billed at your normal tariff, but units you export are credited at a much lower buyback rate. So savings now come mostly from using your own solar power during the day, not from selling surplus to the grid. Households that run ACs, pumps or other heavy loads in daylight hours get the fastest payback; homes that use most power at night benefit less unless they add batteries.

The calculator gives payback years, yearly savings, a 25-year table and IRR, with editable buyback rate and tariff growth. Try a conservative tariff rise as well as a high one before deciding.

Before buying, get at least two installer quotes for the same system size, check that the panel and inverter brands match the quote, and ask what the warranty covers and for how long. Then enter each quote into the payback calculator: the cheapest system is not always the one that pays back fastest if it produces less.

Frequently asked questions

What is a protected consumer in Pakistan?

A domestic consumer whose usage stayed at or below 200 units in each of the last six months. Protected consumers pay lower slab rates. One month above 200 units makes you unprotected for the following six months.

How do I calculate my LESCO or IESCO bill?

Enter your units in the Electricity Bill Calculator, choose your DISCO and status (or enter six months of history to detect it), and it applies the NEPRA slab rates plus fixed charges, FCA, electricity duty and GST.

Is net metering still available in Pakistan?

NEPRA's February 2026 regulations replaced net metering with net billing for solar prosumers. Exports are now credited at a buyback rate well below the retail tariff. The Solar Payback Calculator models this and lets you edit the buyback rate.

What size solar system do I need for my house?

It depends on your monthly units and the sun hours in your city. The Solar System Size Calculator uses both to recommend system size, panel count, inverter and optional battery.

How many years does solar take to pay back in Pakistan?

It varies with system cost, how much solar you use yourself and future tariff rises. Enter your quote into the Solar Payback & Net Metering Calculator to see the payback year and 25-year savings for your case.
