What this means

You are billed as an unprotected consumer, so all 350 units are charged at the 301โ€“400 slab rate of Rs 36.46 โ€” there is no cheaper rate for your first units. Taxes and adjustments add Rs 4,520 (24% of the bill) on top of the energy and fixed charges.

โš ๏ธ Slab warning

You are only 50 units into this slab. Using 300 units instead would cut the bill by about Rs 3,804 โ€” because unprotected bills charge every unit at the higher slab rate.

๐Ÿ”Œ Units saved = money saved
  • โ†’ Staying at or under 200 units for 6 straight months makes you protected: 150 units then costs about Rs 3,934 instead of Rs 7,039 unprotected.
  • โ†’ Unprotected slabs are not telescopic: 300 units โ‰ˆ Rs 14,677 but 301 units โ‰ˆ Rs 16,092.
  • โ†’ One 1.5-ton inverter AC at 26ยฐC for 8 h/day uses roughly 200โ€“250 units a month โ€” raising the set-point by 2ยฐC typically saves 10โ€“15%.
  • โ†’ Swapping five 80 W ceiling fans for 35โ€“40 W DC inverter fans running 16 h/day saves about 100 units a month.

This is an estimate. Your actual bill may also include arrears, late payment surcharge, income/further tax for non-filers, installments, meter rent, or a different FCA/QTA for your billing month. Consumers with 5 kW+ load are billed on Time-of-Use (peak/off-peak) rates, which this tool does not model.

Common mistakes when checking a bill
  • โ€ข Multiplying units by one slab rate for protected bills โ€” protected consumers get the first 100 units at the cheaper rate.
  • โ€ข Forgetting the per-kW fixed charge introduced in February 2026.
  • โ€ข Still adding electricity duty and the Rs 35 PTV fee โ€” both were dropped from July 2025.
  • โ€ข Using last month's FCA: it changes every month and is for fuel costs two months earlier.
  • โ€ข Using 17% GST โ€” the standard sales tax rate is 18%.
๐Ÿ’ก Pro tips
  • โ†’Check the 6-month history box on your bill โ€” it decides protected status.
  • โ†’If your bill crossed 200 units because of a meter or reading error, file a complaint with your DISCO before paying; it affects 6 months.
  • โ†’Ask your DISCO to reduce an oversized sanctioned load: the fixed charge is per kW.
  • โ†’Planning rooftop solar? Size it with our solar calculator before getting quotes.

What is the Electricity Bill Calculator Pakistan?

The Electricity Bill Calculator Pakistan estimates a household (domestic, A-1) electricity bill from the number of units on your meter. It applies the uniform residential tariff that NEPRA determined on 11 February 2026 and the Federal Government notified as S.R.O. 279(I)/2026 on 12 February 2026. The same consumer-end rates apply to all ex-WAPDA distribution companies โ€” LESCO, IESCO, FESCO, GEPCO, MEPCO, PESCO, HESCO, SEPCO, QESCO and TESCO โ€” and to K-Electric, so the DISCO you pick changes only the labels, not the base rates.

Pakistan's domestic tariff is not a simple per-unit price. Since February 2026 there are three groups. Lifeline consumers (single-phase, sanctioned load up to 1 kW, 100 units or less) pay Rs 3.95 for up to 50 units and Rs 7.74 for 51โ€“100 units with no fixed charge. Protected consumers โ€” households that used 200 units or less in each of the previous six months โ€” pay Rs 10.54 for 1โ€“100 units and Rs 13.01 for 101โ€“200 units, and they keep the benefit of one previous slab. Everyone else is unprotected and pays one rate on every unit, set by the slab the whole month lands in: Rs 22.44 up to 100 units rising to Rs 47.20 above 700 units. The 2026 tariff also added a monthly fixed charge per kW of sanctioned load, from Rs 200 to Rs 675.

On top of the energy charge, your bill carries monthly and quarterly adjustments. The fuel charges adjustment (FCA) is set by NEPRA every month for fuel costs two months earlier โ€” Rs 1.11 per unit for Aug 2026, charged in Oct 2026 bills. The quarterly tariff adjustment (QTA) of Rs 0.52 per unit applies to Sepโ€“Nov 2026 bills. A financing cost (debt service) surcharge of Rs 3.23 per unit is also collected. GST at 18% is applied on the total. Electricity duty and the PTV fee were removed from electricity bills from July 2025, so they default to zero here but remain editable.

Worked example: an unprotected LESCO household uses 350 units with a 3 kW sanctioned load. 350 units fall in the 301โ€“400 slab, so every unit is charged at Rs 36.46 = Rs 12,761. Fixed charge = 3 kW ร— Rs 400 = Rs 1,200. FCA Rs 1.11 ร— 350 = Rs 388.50, QTA Rs 0.52 ร— 350 = Rs 182, FC surcharge Rs 3.23 ร— 350 = Rs 1,130.50. Subtotal Rs 15,662; GST 18% = Rs 2,819.16; estimated bill โ‰ˆ Rs 18,481, or about Rs 52.80 per unit. Had the same house used 300 units, it would drop into the 201โ€“300 slab (Rs 33.10) and pay roughly Rs 14,677 โ€” about Rs 3,804 less for 50 fewer units.

This is an estimate. Real bills can also include arrears, late payment surcharge, income tax withholding for non-filers on larger bills, further tax for unregistered persons, deferred amounts, meter rent or installments, and a different FCA or QTA if your bill month differs. Every rate in the calculator is editable, so when NEPRA notifies a new FCA, QTA or rebased tariff (the next rebasing is scheduled for January 2027) you can type in the new figure and get an updated estimate instantly.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. 1Pick your DISCO (LESCO, IESCO, MEPCO, K-Electric, etc.) and enter this month's units from the 'Units consumed' line of your bill.
  2. 2Enter your sanctioned load in kW โ€” it is printed on the bill and decides your monthly fixed charge.
  3. 3Choose your consumer status, or enter your last 6 months' units and let the calculator decide protected vs unprotected for you.
  4. 4Check the FCA, QTA, surcharge and GST fields โ€” they are pre-filled with the latest NEPRA figures and you can change any of them.
  5. 5Read the breakdown: energy charge by slab, fixed charge, adjustments, GST, total bill and average cost per unit.
  6. 6Use the what-if table and slab warning to see how many units you need to save to drop into a cheaper slab, then copy the share link if you want to send the estimate to family.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the per unit price of electricity in Pakistan in 2026?+
For domestic consumers under S.R.O. 279(I)/2026 the base rate ranges from Rs 3.95 (lifeline, up to 50 units) and Rs 10.54โ€“13.01 (protected) to Rs 22.44โ€“47.20 per unit for unprotected households. After FCA, QTA, surcharge and 18% GST, unprotected homes typically pay roughly Rs 35โ€“65 per unit all-in.
Who is a protected electricity consumer?+
A residential consumer who used 200 units or less in each of the previous 6 consecutive months. Consumers with a sanctioned load of 5 kW or more are on Time-of-Use meters and cannot be protected. A single month above 200 units removes protected status for the next 6 months.
What happens if I use 201 units instead of 200?+
If you are protected, crossing 200 units bills the month at unprotected rates and you lose protected status for 6 months. If you are unprotected, all units move from the Rs 28.91 slab to the Rs 33.10 slab because there is no previous-slab benefit โ€” 201 units cost noticeably more than 200. Use the slab warning in the calculator to see the exact difference.
What is FCA in an electricity bill?+
Fuel Charges Adjustment โ€” the difference between the reference fuel cost NEPRA assumed and the actual fuel cost of generation two months earlier. It can be positive or negative and is notified every month. For Oct 2026 bills NEPRA allowed Rs 1.11 per unit (for Aug 2026). Lifeline consumers are exempt.
Are LESCO and K-Electric rates the same?+
Yes for base domestic rates. Under the uniform tariff policy, S.R.O. 279(I)/2026 carries the same consumer-end residential rates for all ex-WAPDA DISCOs and K-Electric. Bills can still differ slightly because of adjustments and bill-month timing.
What is the fixed charge on domestic bills?+
Since February 2026, protected and unprotected domestic consumers pay a monthly fixed charge per kW of sanctioned load: Rs 200 (protected 1โ€“100), Rs 300 (protected 101โ€“200 and unprotected 101โ€“200), Rs 275 (unprotected 1โ€“100), Rs 350, Rs 400, Rs 500 and Rs 675 for higher slabs. Lifeline consumers pay none.
Is electricity duty and PTV fee still charged?+
The federal government stopped collecting provincial electricity duty and the Rs 35 PTV fee through electricity bills from July 2025. If either still appears on your bill, enter it in the editable fields.
How can I reduce my electricity bill?+
Stay just below a slab boundary (100, 200, 300โ€ฆ), aim for 6 straight months under 200 units to become protected, switch to inverter ACs and DC fans, set ACs to 26ยฐC, and consider rooftop solar. The Solar System Size Calculator shows how many panels you would need.
